I began my diary in 1981, and started using tarot in 1988. From the beginning I viewed tarot cards as a creative tool. Writer's block or boredom? Shuffle, pick a card, and now I had something to write about. 30 years later I created my own collage tarot deck, The Discarded Tarot (publication pending,) based on three decades of using the tarot and whatever vintage paper the universe offered me in the local free-box. As a tarot reader, I apply the contemporary principles of systems thinking when reading the cards. As I see it, Tarot illuminates the context, connections, and energy of a situation. A reading can identify feedback loops and suggest ways to navigate the complexity of the systems we are in. The cards may suggest changes we can try so that what emerges from the situation synergistically satisfies our fundamental human needs.
